ARDEN + WHITE GALLERY will make its debut appearance at Untitled Art, Miami Beach this December with a two-person exhibition showcasing the dialogue between an emerging talent and a mid-career artist, celebrating artistic practices that transcend time and space. This exhibition features the works of Marcel Rozek (b. 1992), originally from Ohio and now based in California, alongside Gwen Hardie (b. 1962), a Scottish-born artist currently residing in New York City.
Gwen Hardie’s paintings delve into the subtle emotional resonance of color, light, and shadow. Her meticulous attention to detail creates works that feel both intimate and ethereal. The nuanced interplay of luminosity and texture imbues her paintings with a life of their own, almost as though they radiate off the walls, drawing the viewer into their quiet, layered depths.
Marcel Rozek, drawing inspiration from the early abstractionists and the Washington Color School, employs a distinctive staining technique to produce sophisticated, layered compositions. By applying liquefied paint to raw, unprimed canvas, Rozek creates works that balance harmony and boldness. His intuitive yet precise approach results in strikingly fluid forms, where measured hues and translucent layers achieve a delicate interplay of simplicity and complexity.
This thoughtfully curated exhibition bridges the unique artistic approaches of Rozek and Hardie, emphasizing the enduring nature of abstraction. Together, their works invite viewers into an immersive exploration of form, color, and texture, offering a compelling interplay of contemporary innovation and timeless mastery.
