Murray Clarke

Murray Clarke (b. 1992, United Kingdom) lives and works in London, England. Clarke graduated from Kingston School of Art in 2019 with an MFA in Fine Art.

By replicating images, Clarke's work evokes the mass-produced imagery commonly seen in advertising. This departure from the traditional notion of painting as a singular, unique creation underscores how each repetition of the image distances itself further from its original figurative essence.

Through paintings of dual essence, the artist creates works that are both inviting and comforting, yet also hinting at an undercurrent of detachment and surface-level qualities.  Clarke’s artistic investigation delves into the complex interplay between consumer culture, its allure, and its broader societal implications.

Painted in a realist style, Clarke's paintings encourage viewers to reevaluate their own perceptions and attitudes.
