Heath Wae

Heath Wae (b. 1989, Australia) is a multidisciplinary artist whose work navigates the interplay between ritual, materiality, and the natural world. With a background in both fine arts and woodworking, he earned a Bachelor of Visual Arts from the University of Sydney, Sydney College of the Arts, and further refined his craftsmanship at the Melbourne Guild of Fine Woodworking. He currently lives and works on Bundjalung Country, Australia.

Wae’s practice merges traditional techniques with contemporary abstraction, distilling experiences into poetic and meditative compositions. Through archetypal forms, symbolic gestures, and an intuitive engagement with materials, his work explores themes of consciousness, duality, and timelessness. By drawing from alchemical principles and personal mythology, Wae seeks to bridge the tangible and intangible, creating a sense of harmony between worlds felt, seen, and understood.

His work has been widely exhibited in solo and two-person presentations across Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Recent exhibitions include Devotions (2024) and Rapture; the Warmth of Honey (2024) at The Dot Project in London, as well as Path of the Sun; Face of the Moon (2023). He has also exhibited at Saint Cloche in Sydney, Otomys Contemporary in Melbourne, and Abstract Gallery in New York, among others. In addition to his solo projects, Wae has participated in numerous group exhibitions, further expanding his exploration of material and form.
