Ara Thorose (b. 1978) is an Armenian-American artist from Los Angeles, currently based in NY. He holds an MFA in 3D Design from Cranbrook Academy of Art.
Thorose is best known for his unique, handmade curvilinear chairs and tables that proliferate form and function. Following his work’s debut in 2016, he has been honored on Sight Unseen’s American Design Hotlist and received Interior Design Magazine’s award for Rising Star in Product Design. Thorose’s sloping-cylindrical forms have continually been featured in trend forecasts and have influenced the evolution of contemporary object design.
