Cas Friese

Seen by the artist as her interpretation of a modern day tapestry, or in fact the exact opposite. Cas prints her photographs on archival linen and unravels the edges fiber by fiber, emphasizing the tedious composition of the weave with the image running through its untwined edges. Once complete, she suspends the undone work by hand stitching the top of the work onto museum board, leaving the sides and bottom open to hang naturally within its containment of a frame.
