Arden + White Gallery is honored to present Heath Wae’s debut U.S. solo exhibition, showcasing the artist’s latest body of work. Wae reimagines the flower beyond its ephemeral bloom—positioning it as a vessel of transformation, devotion, and a bridge between the visible and the unseen. Drawing from ancient symbology and goddess traditions, his practice explores the flower’s role in life’s continuous cycles of emergence, decay, and renewal, embodying both impermanence and transcendence.
Inspired by time spent on remote Indonesian islands, Wae’s work reflects a deep reverence for nature’s spiritual dimensions. Observing ceremonies where flora held central significance in ancestral rituals, he embraced the notion of reciprocity between humans and the natural world. This experience led him to weave personal talismans and regional iconography into his work, creating a visual language that intertwines memory, place, and transformation.
Each piece in this exhibition presents the flower as both a physical form and a conduit for unseen forces—symbols of devotion, sensuality, and the interconnected rhythms of existence. Through layered compositions, Wae invites viewers to witness the profound in the delicate, the sacred in the fleeting. Here, the simple act of seeing a flower becomes a meditation—a call to remember, to participate, and to engage in an intimate exchange with the natural world.
