ARDEN + WHITE GALLERY is pleased to present the work of Anke Blaue, Rachel Duval, and Laura Arteaga Charlton at Future Fair in New York.
ARDEN + WHITE GALLERY will exhibit a series of new works by Anke Blaue and Rachel DuVall, two female artists who simultaneously celebrate previous movements in art history whilst championing the contemporary. Through the use of hand-woven textiles, both artists create geometric compositions, heralding modernism with new dimensionality and feminine nuances.
Blaue's pieces are comprised of antique textiles that she fashions together with unique color gradations — the results are inherently minimalist, but by no means simplistic in nature. Similarly, DuVall's grid structures echo the practices and aesthetics inherent to the Bauhaus weaving workshop. Line by line DuVall's painstaking repetition builds up structured arrangements infused with handmade dyes. Both artists' contemporary approaches through the use of historic techniques speak to how these women bring the past to present-day and beyond.
